Marshwood to host the state Marching Band Finals

On October 31, 2009, Marshwood will play host to the state marching band finals here in South Berwick, ME.  Bands from the states of New Hampshire and Maine will compete starting at 3pm.  Judging is based on many visual and musical categories and students strive towards perfection to cap off a busy season that starts with the basics in August.  For more information about the Maine Band Director’s Association please visit http://mebda.org.  For any questions about finals, please contact Mr. Graichen at 207-384-4500 or by email: dgraichen@msad35.net

MHS Concert Band Trip to Philadelphia

Welcome back to the 2009-2010 school year!  This spring, the Concert Band will be traveling to Philadelphi, PA to participate in the Heritage Music Festival being hosted there.  The festival is the exact same format as the one students participated in two years ago in Washington, D.C.  The band will prepare two to three pieces to perform and will be adjudicated by nationally recognized musicians.  At the end of the performance students will also have an onstage clinic with one of those judges.  This is an extradorinary opportunity for students to travel outside of the state of Maine and to work towards a goal of excellence as a group.  If you have any questions about the trip, please contact me at Marshwood High School 207-384-4500 or by email: dgraichen@msad35.net
